What's Happening in Ancient Greece?
A great new flash has just been heard from reporters! Please listen up Greeks! Not too long ago in Marathon Greece, September 490-491 B.C. there was a great war! The war involved the Athenians and the wretched Persians, two major enemies. The Persians used to think they were so strong, but not so much now!
That recent day was our lucky day. The Persians were living another normal day full of hatred against the Athenians. They were preparing, and the Athenians were too. In Athens, everyone was just waiting for the Persians to come pouring in all at once, but no one came. Athens was as still as a rock until there was confidential received Persian information: the Persians were planning a surprise attack from Marathon. Athenian soldiers suited up and planned a counter-attack.
When the armies arrived, the Persians did not see them at first. The Athenian men attacked, and victory was Athens. They then sent a running messenger to tell Athens about their victory. Suddenly, the man became tired. He then shouted: "Nike!" (meaning the Goddess of Victory) and died of exhaustion.
